Talk about a much anticipated film!
As true Marvel fans are well aware of the associated hype around most releases, the moment that pre-sales of Black Panther became available, the internet went nuts.
According to Fandango, the first day sales for Black Panther exceed that of any other Marvel film to date, superseding Captain America: Civil War’s ticket pre-sales on its first day.
The initiative came with a larger-than-life promotion via NCAA championship halftime show in which K.Dot performed to an audience of millions on live TV. After the performance was an extended trailer release of Black Panther which also indicated that early ticket sales were now available.
Will this set the highest grossing opening week in Marvel history? It just might.
Many celebrities and organizations are also starting fundraisers for kids and students to watch the much anticipated film as well, which will not only attract die hard Marvel fans, but a first time Black Panther audience that is anticipating the representation, as the movie dismisses Hollywood’s issues of diversity as 90 percent of the film features people of color.
What do you guys think? Will it set even more records or is it just all media hype? Comment and discuss!
