Microsoft’s E3 Press Conference kicked off today at 1 pm PT. Much like last year, the company bombarded the audience with game after game. The good news is there was something for everyone. Here are some of the highlights.
Halo Infinite
Microsoft jumped right in by showing a trailer of Halo Infinite. Not much is known, however the game does seem to indicate that it is not your traditional Halo game. The trailer showed a vast open world with exotic animals and a group of soldiers patrolling the countryside. At the very end, Master Chief made an appearance. The only thing we know for sure is that this game is being powered by the new Slipstream engine.
Three Gears of War Games Announced
Gears of War 5 is officially called Gears 5 and is coming in 2019. The game will star Kate Diaz from the previous installment. Two spinoff games have also been announced, Gears Pop and Gears Tactics. Gears Pop is a Funko Pop themed gears of war game that is coming to mobile. Gears Tactics is a PC exclusive turn based strategy game.
While few details were revealed on the Microsoft Stage, Todd Howard came out to introduce a new trailer for Fallout 76. It was confirmed that the story takes place prior to all the other Fallout games in the series. The setting is West Virginia as we suspected. According to Todd Howard, Fallout 76 is four times larger than Fallout 4. Players will take on the role of “one of the first to emerge in an untamed and very different wasteland.”
The Division 2 was revealed today with a release date of March 15, 2019. A gameplay demo was presented below:
Forza Horizon 4 was revealed with a trailer and a stage demo. The game will take place in Britain and will feature dynamic seasons in a shared open world.
Dying Light 2
I must admit an outburst of excitement for the announcement of Dying Light 2. I literally jumped out of my chair. According to Chris Avellone, narrative director, Dying Light 2 will have a “functional ecosystem” and ” a new vision of the post apocalypse”.
Microsoft revealed over 50 games on this years stage. So, it would be impossible to list everything here. This was just some of the highlights. Other games like Ori and the Willow of the Wisps, Just Cause 4, and Devil May Cry 5 were shown on stage. What was your favorite reveal during this press conference? And, what grade would you give Microsoft this year? Let us know in the comments below!
