Square Enix, of the Final Fantasy, many Kingdom Hearts titles and the Dragon Quest series’ as well as many more, has recently announced another installment in the Tomb Raider franchise. Unfortunately, not much is known about the specifically as Square Enix wants to “approach it differently” with its announcement but have assured its fans that it is, without a doubt, coming to our consoles in the future. They have said that they do not want the fans to wait long between the official reveal and the launch date and looking to officially announce it alongside a major event next year. It is speculated that the event in question could be the release of the new Tomb Raider movie, starring Alicia Vikander as our heroine, slated for March 2018 or the E3 conference in California in June.

The new franchise installment is expected to be released in 2018 but none of those details have been hashed out as of yet. Even now it remains hazy about who will develop the next Tomb Raider-Crystal Dynamics, who was behind 2015’s Rise of the Tomb Raider is likely to return. However, reports are circulating that Eidos Montreal could be brought in to develop this title. Which is interesting considering both of those studios’ are reportedly working together to bring a new game based on “The Avengers”.

It seems we have a little bit of a wait to hear any major details but I think we can expect similar gameplay to Rise of the Tomb Raider, puzzle solving, gunfights, and bad*** girls doing crazy things! I expect it will be worth the wait though.
